U.S. FDA issues GRAS “No Questions Letter” for Isomaltodextrin

Hayashibara Co.,Ltd. (Hayashibara, Head office: Okayama, President: Osamu Morishita), a Nagase Group company, is pleased to announce that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a GRAS (generally recognized as safe) "No questions letter", for Hayashibara's new soluble dietary fiber, Isomaltodextrin, qualifying it for safety use in food and beverages.

Isomaltodextrin is produced from starch using Hayashibara's proprietary enzymes. Hayashibara launched the product of Isomaltodextrin(FibryxaTM)in Nov 2015, firstly in Japan. FibryxaTMcontains not less than 80% of dietary fiber. Its high water solubility and superior stability in the food products, along with its minimal sweetness, allow it to be added to food products without any negative impact on taste, making it an attractive ingredient as an excellent source of dietary fiber for a wide variety of food and beverages.

As the most promising market for dietary fiber, Hayashibara has an intention of entering into the U.S. market with Isomaltodextrin in near future and this important milestone will support our future development in the global market.
