Extension of “Okayama Functional Saccharide Plant, T Building” Completed
HAYASHIBARA CO., LTD.
At Hayashibara Co., Ltd. (Headquarters in Shimoishii, Kita-ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture; President Osamu Morishita), construction of an extension to the T Building (Trehalose Manufacturing Plant) of the Okayama Functional Saccharide Plant (Imabo, Kita-ku, Okayama City), which was begun in September of last year, was successfully completed, and a ceremony was held today, September 6, to mark its completion.
The Okayama Functional Saccharide Plant T Building was completed in June of 2009 as a plant dedicated to the production of “TREHA” (product name) from high purity trehalose for food and received FSSC22000 certification in 2012.
In the extension, the plant was expanded into a vacant lot adjacent to the north side of the existing T Building (on the east side of the plant’s S Building), and facilities such as a concentrator, crystallization equipment, and automated warehouse were constructed, along with a new office and conference room.
This construction included expansion of the manufacturing facilities, introduction of state-of-the-art energy-saving equipment, and improvement of the working traffic line. As a result, manufacturing capacity has been increased by approximately 30 percent of the existing manufacturing capacity of 35,000 tons. Together with efficiencies in distribution gained through the introduction of an automated warehouse, the expansion makes possible a stable supply of trehalose, for which demand is expected to increase in the future, and has strengthened the competitiveness of the product.
