Sustainability at Hayashibara
Our Sustainability Policy
The UN Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015, "Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" was adopted for our policies. The 2030 Agenda lists "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)", which consists of 17 goals and 169 targets, is to be achieved by all relevant parties around the world, including the business sector. This list includes resolving social issues such as poverty, starvation, inequality, and climate change.
We continue to develop, manufacture and offer unique materials that enrich everyday life for all. Looking at the common goals for humanity in 2030, we contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and improve corporate value by enhancing development of new materials that contribute to resolving social issues and reducing of environmental impacts of manufacturing.

Materiality for Hayashibara

Process to Identify Materiality
In FY2019, we identified four materialities through the discussion between the management and young and mid-level employees about “what we should do and what we can work toward for 2030,” from perspective of SDGs.
- Step1
- Understanding the SDGs and examining challenges surrounding us implementing GRI standards.
- Step2
- Mapping and prioritizing issues that were identified from two perspectives: "impacts to society" and "importance for us."
- Step3
- Deciding the materiality by identified in Step 2 at the Board of Directors’ meeting.

We will contribute to the wellness of people worldwide by improving our technologies and providing unique and advanced materials, technologies, and information that meet changing market expectations.SDGs

We will strive to reduce losses in the entire supply chain and improve the productivity of existing food resources such as agriculture, livestock, and fishery. We will also develop next-generation food resources through a partnership between industry, academia, and government, and contribute to a sustainable and stable society.SDGs

Communication with Stakeholders
Hayashibara's activities exist because of our strong relationships with various stakeholders. We will proactively incorporate the opinions and expertise of various stakeholders such as customers, business partners, employees, and people in our community into our corporate activities. We will conduct initiatives to gather and include this feedback in the plan to achieve our goals of sustainable societal development and increased corporate value.
