Hayashibara participates in the United Nations World Food Programme’s Corporate Programme as a Partner to Eradicate Hunger and Poverty

  • Information

Hayashibara Co., Ltd., a member of Nagase Group (Headquarters: Kita-ku, Okayama City, President: Naoki Yasuba), endorses the objectives of the United Nations food aid agency, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and will implement support activities for three years from 2022 to 2024. We have concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Japan Association for the World Food Programme, an accredited non-profit organization and an official point of contact for WFP, and will participate as a partner in JAWFP’s corporate programme to support its activities .

WFP provides life-saving food assistance to people displaced by conflict and impoverished by disasters, and works to strengthen nutrition for women and children. The organization also aims to increase productivity and reduce losses among small farmers, help countries and communities prepare for and respond to climate-related disasters, and strengthen human capital by supporting school feeding.

We have set securing stable food supply as our materiality and are taking various initiatives to build a sustainable food system. However, it is difficult for our company alone to solve this major issue, and we hope to make a more multifaceted contribution through our support towards the activities of WFP. In support of WFP's mission to eradicate hunger and poverty, we will contribute to society through WFP's humanitarian assistance to developing countries in areas where securing stable food supply is a challenge.
