Endorsed Initiatives and External Recognition

In November 2022, Nagase Viita Co., Ltd. signed the United Nations Global Compact, a global initiative to achieve sustainable growth. We will respect the 10 principles (human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption) set forth by the UN Global Compact and further promote sustainability initiatives.

Nagase viita endorses the objectives of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and we will assist in their aid activities for three years from 2022 to 2024. We have concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Japan Association for the World Food Programme (JAWFP), an accredited non-profit organization and an official point of contact for WFP, and we will participate as a partner in JAWFP’s corporate programme to support its activities.

Nagase viita has expressed our commitment to the aims of the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021, which was held in New York, USA in September 2021. We will contribute to achieving a sustainable food system, especially food security in terms of both quality (nutrition) and quantity (supply) by utilizing our naturally derived ingredients, promoting the development of nutritious food products, reducing food loss, and improving productivity of agricultural and livestock products to secure a stable food supply.

In December 2021, the Japanese government held the Tokyo Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit 2021 and set the aim of bringing well-being to all with unique biotechnology. By 2030, we will work with our stakeholders to achieve our goals by promoting the spread of safe and sustainable healthy food that sustains the health of people and the planet by leveraging the capabilities of our food ingredients.

We are pleased to announce that we have received the highest "Platinum" rating in a sustainability survey conducted by EcoVadis (Headquarters: France), one of the world’s most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings for global supply chains. The "Platinum" rating is awarded to companies that score in the top 1% of all eligible companies.

EcoVadis assesses suppliers operating in 180+ countries across 220+ industries, and assessment results are tested on over 130,000 companies.
EcoVadis conducts objective examinations and assessment of companies’ sustainability through independent reviews and analysis, and scores the performance on a company’s policies, actions and results, in four sustainability themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. We received a Gold rating in 2022 and a Silver rating in 2023.

Nagase viita has been certified in the Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program 2024 (Large Enterprise Category) by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Health Council, which selects companies that implement excellent health and productivity management practices.

Nagase Viita has been certified by the Japan Sports Agency as a Sports Yell Company 2024 for our active efforts to promote the practice of sports to enhance the health of our employees.

Nagase Viita has been certified by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as an authorized Eco Rail Mark Company, a company that is proactively utilizing and promoting environmentally friendly rail freight transport. Our TREHA^TM product has now also been certified as an authorized Eco Rail Mark Product.
